  1. Hello Mahina,
My name is Gargee, and this summer I am a student commenter for the Ako Hiko cluster. I hope you're enjoying the Summer Learning Journey! I'm so happy you decided to join the programme and learn heaps through these 2 last days. Make the most of it!

Well done for completing another activity, seems like you are very busy with the SLJ! I really like how you included essential information about Jessica Watson, don't you agree that she's just amazing? I find it so incredible that she sailed around the whole southern hemisphere by herself at 16! She definitely deserves an award. Can you ever imagine yourself doing that? It seems like a task that would take a lot of determination and perseverance. A lot of gut a bravery is needed to complete such a big task, do you agree? It would be amazing if you could elaborate a little more about her sailing experience. We'd love to find out more!

Before the SLJ started, I never knew about Jessica Watson, but researching and reading blog posts like yours is so much fun and I enjoy learning like you are! In the future, would you like to sail? I don't think it would be my lifelong career, I'm more gravitated towards a medical doctor. Nevertheless, sailing sounds so much fun, and I'll be sure to hopefully include a lot of it in my future!

Thank you for specifying that she sails as it is her career, I never knew she did it for a living. For this activity, you need to write a sentence about what Jessica Watson or her work has impacted on other people's lives. If you are able to do that, that would be excellent :)

    Keep blogging Mahina!

  2. Ata Mārie Mahina,

Thanks for this post - I really enjoyed reading about Jessica Watson as I didn’t know anything about her! She sounds like a pretty amazing person. Why did you choose Jessica Watson? Where did the inspiration come from? I also really like how you’ve presented your ideas on a slideshow, ka pai!

I went and looked Jessica Watson up after reading your post and found out that she wrote a book called ‘True Spirit’ about her sailing experience and there is also a documentary made about her! That’s so cool - she really is inspirational isn’t she!

Have you ever been sailing or on a boat Mahina? My step-dad is a keen fisherman so sometimes we go out on his boat during the weekends and have a great time catching some kaimoana for dinner and jumping off the boat into the water!

Have a groovy weekend and keep up the awesome blogging! Remember you’ve got until midnight tonight to get as many posts done as you can :)

    Eliza :)

  3. Hello Mahina,
Once again it is Vitaraag here to read some of your fantastic blog posts. I enjoyed reading about Jessica Watson. You included things that I didn't know about her. Something that seems odd to me is that whenever people are on this activity they also chose Jessica Watson. I think it is because she is, so popular. Another thing that I liked best was that you added a photo of her. I have gone sailing once. That was at camp. Yeah it didn't go well. I was, so cold I though I had hypothermia. On top of that the instructor said sometimes there are shark sightings here. Anyways, it was still very fun. Maybe next time you could say what happened to other people when she did this. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!

I am so proud of you of all the hard work you have done. I very like the cool background you have chose. Maybe next time you should add what was the impact in other peoples live. Otherwise, great blog post!
